Kinda Awkward

The 5th annual Cult28 art exchange, a time when a group of my close Animation/Illustration friends from college are randomly assigned another person to create an art piece for; the only rule, nothing digital. This year’s theme: Mythological Creatures. I chose Scylla from The Odyssey.

This year, I was assigned the C28 teacher himself, Dave Yee. And when you get Dave Yee, you don’t mess around… It was definitely one of the most challenging pieces I’ve ever done, and I spent a literal week, night after night drawing and burning, pretty much sleeping 4-5 hours a day; it was pretty much like being in school again. It was nice going back to the fundamentals of illustration, planning out every compositional element and designing caricatures of my friends. I’m happy with how it turned out :)

Teardrops and Bags

Sorry for the recent silence folks… got my fingers tied up in a multitude of different projects this entire month. But, I took a break from those tonight to do a simple animation of that finger thing we used to do as kids. Remember?  Some awesome new things to come soon!

Always Works Out

First attempt at wood burning art (test for a new project). It was tough to draw round edges, fine detail, and typography, so I will probably practice a little more before using the technique for the final project. And yes, got burned many times and probably took a couple years off my life through inhaling all that wood smoke.
